Simmons Eresource
This resource is a bibliography created by scholars on Latin American works. It rotates every year between works selected from the social sciences or the humanities. Approximately 130 scholars choose more than 5000 works for this Handbook. Informative yet brief reviews of the works are provided.

Online
The Latin American network Information Center (or LANIC) is affiliated with the Lozano Long Institute of Latin American Studies at the University of Texas, Austin. LANIC’s web site provides a large directory of Latin American content organized into a variety of topics, including country information, humanities, internet and computing, libraries and reference, media and communication (including newspapers), regional resources, social science, society and culture, and sustainable development.

A Spanish to English, and English to Spanish dictionary, this volume deals primarily with medical and medical related terminology. The book also contains a small grammatical guide to explain key features of both languages.

Enriched with plenty of photographs, illustrations and maps, this encyclopedia reads more as a textbook than a traditional encyclopedia, organized as it is on broad categories, like physical environment or politics. An index in the back provides alphabetically access to the book's contents.

Finding Articles
Below are suggested databases and indexes for articles on the topic that you have chosen to research. These databases include articles from newspapers, magazines and scholarly journals. Articles are shorter and more narrowly focused than books or reference materials so you should use them after you have narrowed your topic.

Clase indexes documents published in Latin American journals specializing in the social sciences and humanities. Periodica covers journals specializing in science and technology. Together, this database offers access to more than 300,000 bibliographic citations from documents published in 2,600 scholarly journals published in the Spanish, Portuguese, French and English languages. It contains information from articles, essays, book reviews, monographs, conference proceedings, technical reports, interviews and brief notes published in journals edited in 24 different countries of Latin America and the Caribbean, as well as from publications that focus on Pan-American issues.

Academic Onefile contains 8,000 academic journals, the majority in full-text, available in HTML and PDF formats. In addition it contains hundreds of podcasts and transcripts from NPR, CNN, and the CBC.

Online fulltext and indexing available from 1991 to 2004. Current month of the newspaper is available in print in the Current Newspapers collection.
Also, available freely online, El Mundo opened its online archives without restrictions. This allows research in the news from 1994 up to the present. Click on "en elmundo.es" and then on "Buscar" to call up the search engine.
