Iowa
From Simmons Library Research Guides
These are electronic databases, search engines, and other online resources that are available to residents of each state. Any unique log-in and identification requirements are listed under the source. Resources can be used from home, unless otherwise noted.
There may also be online resources and databases available for free through your local public library. Check your local library's web page for more information.
Iowa State University e-library
Many of these resources are available only to current Iowa State University students. The resources with a small globe icon next to it are available online to any user.
University of Iowa Library Databases
Any database with an icon of a lock next to it is restricted to University of Iowa students and faculty. But anything that does not have that icon next to it is free for the public to use.
State Library of Iowa Online Resources
These resources are available to Iowa State Library card holders. Any Iowa resident can get a state library card (click here for an online application). Many of these resources are also available online without an Iowa State Library card. Consult the key to symbols for more information about resource availability.
