Boston Pride
The Boston Pride Committee, serving the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender (LGBT) and allied community, works to enhance the visibility of Boston's LGBT community through a week of events each June, in conjunction with year-round activities, to promote LGBT awareness, dignity, and understanding.

Junior League of Boston
The Junior League of Boston (JLB) was established in 1906 by young women interested in educating other young women in how to address and resolve the community problems and needs of the greater Boston Metro area. Community service focus is the health and education of women and children.

Mass NARAL
Our mission is to develop and sustain a grassroots constituency that uses the political process to guarantee every woman the right to make personal decisions regarding the full range of reproductive choices, including preventing unintended pregnancy, bearing healthy children and choosing safe, legal, accessible abortion.

The Women's Union
Crittenton Women's Union transforms the course of low-income women's lives so that they can attain economic independence and create better futures for themselves and their families. It does so by: providing safe housing, caring supports, education, and training programs; innovating new programmatic designs based on research and client experience; using this knowledge and experience to shape public policy and achieve social change.

This article from Higher Education, 06/01/2001, Vol 41, Iss 4, by Nelly P. Stromquist, talks about how women's studies programs have been vulnerable financially, and have struggled for academic recognition and autonomy. She also speaks of the crossroads for women's studies, where it will decide between adopting more feminist political concerns or succumb to the forces that are making the university increasingly entrepreneurial.
